- Head of a ram
- Artist
- Artist Unknown, India, Bengal
- Physical Description
- This terracotta is modeled in the shape of a ram’s head. The snout is softly modeled by hand and his two horns form coils to either side of his head. A decorative band with punch-marked floral decoration on it divides the snout from the area of the head with the spiral horns. The horns are decorated with lines and encircle a donut shaped element in the center. A floral motif is between the two above the decorative band and other punch-marked floral forms decorate his snout at the top and at each cheek. His eyes are incised in a diamond pattern with a circular center and his nostrils are simple indentations.

- St. Felix of Valois
- Artist
- Gaspar Miguel de Berrío
- Physical Description
- A bearded man with a halo and wearing ecclesiastical vestments appears rapt in ecstasy in the upper third of this painting. He stands on a cloud beneath an elaborate baldachin with his eyes turned upward. A stag with a cross between its antlers lies at his feet on the figure's right while a putto sits at his left. Two more putti hover to the left and right of the man, holding a red curtain behind him. This scene is surrounded on three sides by dense painted decoration composed primarily of vegetal motifs, which is complemented by the exuberant scrolling foliage and fish scale patterns of the gilded frame. A cartouche bearing a Latin inscription identifying the standing figure is located near the bottom of the painted surface.

- The Annunciation
- Artist
- Mariano Salvador de Maella
- Physical Description
- In this painting, rendered entirely in gray monochrome, a technique known as grisaille, an angel descends on a bank of clouds toward a woman who kneels on the floor before a prie-dieu. She looks downward and turns away from the angel in a gesture of humility, and her head is illuminated by the light from a luminescent dove in the cloud above her. A bearded man looks down from the summit of the cloud, nearly engulfed in light, and a number of cherubim appear throughout the scene. The robust forms and grounded materiality of the woman's body and the furniture around her give way to light-filled clouds and diffused forms in the upper part of the canvas as the heavenly and worldly realms come together.

- The Annunciation
- Artist
- Juan de Valdés Leal
- Physical Description
- An angel, draped with a flowing red mantle, descends on the left from a bank of clouds. He holds a scepter and twisting scroll in his left hand while he points with his right toward a white dove encircled by a halo of light that descends toward a woman dressed in long robes and a veil. She sits, holding a book open on the lectern before her, and draws back slightly with her right hand raised and her eyes downcast. Six cherubim sit above on the edge of the cloudbank, which opens to reveal a male figure barely visible in the blinding light that fills the cloud.

- L'Alliance de la Poésie et de la Musique (The Alliance of Poetry and Music)
- Artist
- Charles Joseph Natoire
- Physical Description
- Two women clad in flowing robes sit beneath a curved colonnade at the center of this delicately painted scene. The woman on the left, wearing a blue mantle, holds a lyre in her right hand and leans toward her companion, who holds open a musical score on her lap to which she points with her right hand. Books are piled on the steps next to the woman on the left and a putto sits next to her with a scroll unrolled across his lap. A second putto stands next to the other seated woman and plays a viol. A winged putto hovers over the heads of the two women, holding a small trumpet in his left hand and a laurel crown in his right, which he is about to place on the head of the woman with the lyre. Two bust-length portraits of men in oval frames wreathed with laurel hang from the columns in the background.

- Fame and Erato, Muse of Love Poetry
- Artist
- Sebastiano Conca
- Physical Description
- Two women accompanied by a pair of putti appear seated in the foreground of this painting. On the left sits a winged woman crowned with a laurel wreath and wearing a long white robe and a vivid ocher-colored mantle. She leans on a globe while cradling a large book in her right arm to which she points with her left hand. In her right hand she holds a compass. A putto peeks from beneath her mantle, and a viol is visible beneath the globe. The other woman sits on a cloud. She wears a golden crown and a richly colored blue mantle. She grasps a lyre with her left hand and leans toward the woman seated next to her, gesturing in the direction of the book with her right hand. A second putto stands near her left shoulder holding a gold circlet in his left hand. The background is filled with glimpses of neoclassical architecture, including fluted columns and a facade with a row of Ionic columns supporting an entablature.

- Study for the Last Judgement in the Dome of Santa Maria del Fiore, Florence
- Artist
- Federico Zuccaro
- Physical Description
- This is a preparatory drawing of a group of putti that form part of the painted decoration of the dome of Florence cathedral. The most striking figures are the putti in the upper corners of the drawing who support an architectural cornice and a pair of putto that appear between them. One of these putti holds a shirt and his companion holds three dice. Myriad other putti are rendered more lightly to give the impression that they are positioned in the background.

- Mantel clock with a priestess and Cupid offering a sacriffice to Venus
- Artist
- Joseph Buzot
- Physical Description
- The dial of this elaborately decorated clock stands upon a two-tiered base. The lower tier consists of a hollow base made of ebony and adorned with a frieze of gilded bronze scrollwork and palmette motifs. The upper tier, made entirely of gilded bronze, features six fluted pilasters with a decorative panel centered on the front below the dial. This panel is composed of a pair of doves touching beaks before a crossed quiver of arrows and a flaming torch framed by leaves. A woman in long flowing robes stands to the right of the dial and empties a small cup onto a dove held by a winged putto who lies on a rocky projection. Behind the dove burns a fire on a small altar inscribed "Altar of Venus" [Autel à Venus].
