- Jina and a monk in a landscape from a Digambara Jain manuscript
- Artist
- Artist Unknown, India, Sirohi School
- Physical Description
- This painting illustrates a verse from a Digambara Jain manuscript that likens the capacity of praising the Jina to destroy sins to the way the sun obliterates darkness; it shows a sun with the face of a Jina illuminating the sky. The golden-hued Jina and the monk who venerate a Jina are nude, identifying them as belonging to the Digambara (sky-clad) sect of Jainism.

- The Cynic Philosopher Crates
- Artist
- Domenico Fetti
- Physical Description
- This painting shows a man seated on a bench, facing the viewer. He leans forward slightly and his right hand reaches across his body to point toward a group of coins on the ground. He is dressed in tattered clothing and his feet are bare. The bench where he is seated is inscribed with the letters: P. Q. P. C. /T. T. This is an outdoor scene with open sky in the background and some vegetation on a ledge above him, but there are no details to indicate the exact location. Another man is shown in the background at the right, walking hunched over and using a staff. There is a strong contrast between dark and light in this painting. The figure of the walking man and the dark shapes of buildings are outlined against the light backdrop of the sky. A strong warm light, from the left side of the painting, highlights the knees, hand and upper body of the seated man.

- Physical Description
- In this painting, done in broad brush strokes, the figures of two women fill the composition. One is seated in profile view and the other, standing behind her, gazes out into the distance. The forms of their bodies are set againist a plain white wall creating a strong outline, especially around the area of their hair and faces. There is also a strong color contrast between the dark black shawl worn by the standing woman and light pink shawl of the seated one. There is an amulet made of bone and feathers hanging on the wall in the upper right corner of the painting.

- Courtyard in the Sultan's Palace
- Artist
- Jean Joseph Benjamin Constant
- Physical Description
- This painting shows a scene set in a courtyard with high white walls that is open to the sky. Beyond the wall there is flowering vegetation, tall trees and a tower with a balustrade with keyhole shaped openings. There are two clay pots resting on top of the wall and an oriental style carpet hanging over one side. Within this courtyard, there are three women who are looking at two small leopards that wear metal chains and stand in a keyhole shaped opening of the far right wall. The women, grouped together on the far left side, are wearing 19th century Moroccan dress, including richly embroidered, garments, headscarves and shoes. There is bright sunlight streaming into the room which creates shadows on the walls and floor.
