This study of a male nude set within a niche combines a skilled portrayal of anatomy with a powerful evocation of movement and emotional intensity. Through the carefully rendered arms and swirling draperies the artist expands and animates the space around the figure, who seems to surge forward even as he turns his head back in a gesture of despair.

This is a preparatory drawing of a group of putti that form part of the painted decoration of the dome of Florence cathedral. The most striking figures are the putti in the upper corners of the drawing who support an architectural cornice and a pair of putto that appear between them. One of these putti holds a shirt and his companion holds three dice. Myriad other putti are rendered more lightly to give the impression that they are positioned in the background.

This drawing depicts two addorsed female figures reclining on a triangular slope. The women are partly clothed, and the one on the left wears an elephant-shaped headpiece. Between their shoulders appears a blank escutcheon held by two putti. Nude men in the background strain to hold back piles of objects that include shields and spears.
