- Tureen with floral patterns and glass knob
- Artist
- Artist Unknown, France
- Physical Description
- This ovoid tureen stands on four curved, leaf-like feet that sprout upward and join together to form a pair of handles at either end of the vessel. The body of the tureen, composed of gentle undulating curves, is decorated with bright red and yellow flowers and leaves painted with overglaze enamel. A scallion, modeled in relief, rests bundled together with sprigs of parsley on top of the lid, introducing a playful trompe-l'oeil element. An onion forms the knob on the top of the lid.

- Autumn Moon at Mt. Dongting
- Artist
- Wu Qingyun (Wu Ch'ing-yun)
- Physical Description
- Dark, wet ink wash and light accents of color capture the lyrical mood of an autumnal moonlit night at Lake Tai and Mount Dongting. A round moon hangs low in the sky at top right, with a diffuse glow slightly brightening the clouds and sky below. Two islands sit in the water below, the larger (closer) of the two has four boats moored just offshore. Up close the boats appear as freely brushed lines, and yet at a distance, their forms come into focus. A building sits on the closer island, light shining in the windows. The silhouette of a pagoda can be seen on the further island.

- Artist
- Andô Hiroshige
- Physical Description
- Here, caught in a sudden downpour, people rush along the steep hillside. Bamboo bends under the force of wind and rain, and the people in the foreground mimic this downward motion in order to shield their eyes from the water streaming upon them in torrents. Masterfully depicted, the viewer can almost feel the bullets of rain, and sense of sympathy for these unfortunate travelers.

- Fame and Erato, Muse of Love Poetry
- Artist
- Sebastiano Conca
- Physical Description
- Two women accompanied by a pair of putti appear seated in the foreground of this painting. On the left sits a winged woman crowned with a laurel wreath and wearing a long white robe and a vivid ocher-colored mantle. She leans on a globe while cradling a large book in her right arm to which she points with her left hand. In her right hand she holds a compass. A putto peeks from beneath her mantle, and a viol is visible beneath the globe. The other woman sits on a cloud. She wears a golden crown and a richly colored blue mantle. She grasps a lyre with her left hand and leans toward the woman seated next to her, gesturing in the direction of the book with her right hand. A second putto stands near her left shoulder holding a gold circlet in his left hand. The background is filled with glimpses of neoclassical architecture, including fluted columns and a facade with a row of Ionic columns supporting an entablature.

He leans forward, holding a long thin scepter in his right hand while touching his chest with his left. Before him stand two women supporting a third, who has fainted. This third woman wears a splendid blue robe ornamented with a row of opulent clasps, a luxurious golden cloak lined with pink fabric, and a crown that seems to tilt precariously on the back of her head.
