Montrichard in May

Samuel Chamberlain

Eight distinct trees are shown in the foreground, with a house visible through the trees in the background. The trees are tall and skinny, with tufts of leaves in regular intervals up their trunks. Two trees on the left are thicker and darker. One tree sweeps diagonally across the composition. Two trees on the right of the page cross in the middle of their trunks.

Shoot Ships to Germany and help America Win

Adolph Treidler

Text: Shoot Ships to Germany and help AMERICA WIN--Schwab - At this Shipyard are being built ships to carry to our men "Over There"--Food, Clothing, and the Munitions of War. Without these ships our men will not have an equal chance to fight. The building of ships is more than a construction job--it is our chance to win the war. He who gives to his work the best that is in him does his bit as truly as the man who fights. Delays mean danger. Are you doing your bit? Are you giving the best that is in you to help your son, brother, or pal who is "OVER THERE"? - United States Shipping Board, Emergency Fleet Corporation - Issued by Publications Section, Emergency Fleet Corporation, Philadelphia

Text: YMCA - Cabled From France August 21st, 1918 - "A sense of obligation for the varied and useful service rendered to the army in France by the Y.M.C.A. prompts me to join in the appeal for its further financial support. Fighting in France for Freedom! Are You Helping at Home? - Connecticut State Council of Defense

Artist Unknown

Text: Fighting in France for Freedom!--Are YOU Helping at Home? - Wild and enthusiastic times marked the victory day's celebration all over the country. Every city vied in having celebrations on Monday when hostilities ceased and it was one joyful day in every place in the United States. New York was a pandemonium of joy and everybody knows they celebrate with a vengeance. Photograph shows one instance of the crowds which Mayor Hyland addressed. - THE TRAILS OF "OUR BOYS" WON'T CEASE WITH PEACE. - When the fighting ends, American soldiers will have to be kept in France a long time. Without the excitement of battle they'll be more homesick and restless than ever before. An that's why every man and every woman must contribute to the United War Work Fund. - IS ANYTHING TOO MUCH?
