ceremonial jade ge dagger-axe, pointed blade on one end and squared tang for hafting on the other. It was broken and mented in the middle. Traces of cinnabar, red mercury sulfide, remain on the jade surface, indicating it probably came from a Shang elite burial in China. The jade material was probably fire treated to create the bony look.

Physical Description
Gilt metal balustrade fragment from staircase in Havemeyer house. Vertical rods alternate with S-shaped metal design with milky opalescent "commas" in the "S". These alternating elements are held together with soft metal joins; the glass pieces are set loosely in their metal mounts.

Physical Description
One of a pair of doors that formed an arched entryway. In the upper two thirds of the door are opalescent square glass "coffers" in an arched composition that corresponds to the silhouette of the doors. The interior-facing side of the doors include curvilinear lead caming, inset with medium-sized beach stones, that frame the glass "coffers". The exterior-facing side of the doors has the "coffers" framed by patinated copper sheeting.

Two men are seated at a table- one is a bearded man wearing long robes and the other has a staff and a hat with wings. They are looking at a woman, wearing a cloth headdress and a long dress, who stands before them. On the left is a man entering through a doorway. The features of the room are shown in great detail including the assortment of food, hanging vegetables and baskets, a wall tapestry, the rough wood planking and decorative designs on the bedding. There is a printed Latin inscription below this scene.

This painting shows the interior of a large prison room. There is a thick stone wall and iron grating. Three figures are the focal point of this composition. One man, in a dark blue cloak, is standing and faces two other men who stare intently at his face. One of them is seated with a leg iron, on a stone bench and the other leans on a stone ledge. They are are dressed in simple brown cloaks. The standing figure has a raised left arm and is gesturing with his hand outstretched toward the other figures.
