Subject Matter
Hirosada was one of the most prolific Osaka-based print designers during the Edo period. His prints depict many of the famous kabuki actors from the Osaka stage and were widely revered for expressive and bold style. He was best known for his ?kubi-e (large head) prints, such as this one of the Osaka actor Kataoka Ichizô in the guise of the sumo great Onigatake.
