- Physical Description
- A colorful image of two kabuki actors. One is portraying a geisha and wearing a gold hair piece and a dark blue kimono. The kimono has images of white cherry blossoms. The under layers of the kimono are red and light blue. She is also holding a brush and writing on the base of a shamisen in her lap.
- The male character is dressed in a black kimono with white crosshatch designs. He is holding a pipe and looking up at the geisha.
- Subject Matter
- Two kabuki actors. The man dressed as the geisha is portraying Koman while the man is Satsuma Gengobei. This is likely a scene from the play "Godairiki Koi no Fûjime." This is the scene in which the geisha Koman writes the word "godairiki" on her shamisen as a pledge of love and loyalty to Gengobei.
- The play, "Godairiki Koi no Fûjime" depicts the hero of the play, the samurai Satsuma Gengobei, in pursuit of the geisha Koman.
