quents generously. But as the arrearage for 1888 and preceding
years now exceeds seven hundred dollars, and as the JOURNAL
is published by private enterprise and supplied to the members
of the Association under contract, a more business-like policy
must be pursued.
Mention has been made in the JOURNAL of the death of its
president, Mr. Samuel Noble, of Alabama, and a proper minute
should be prepared and acted upon by the Association.
In the changes which occur with years, defects in the constitution have been discovered, which, while not of a serious character,
should be remedied. and such action is recommended as will secure
a proper revision of the constitution, and a thorough consideration
of the purposes of the Association.
Appended is the financial statement, from which it is evident
that the exchequer of the organization needs only the arrearages
to place it in satisfactory condition.
