CROP OF WHlIEAT AND INDIAN CORN IN THE UNITED STATES. The last annual estimate of the crops of the United States wvas made at the Patent office, for the year 1S45. It is known that the crops of grain for 1846 were more abundant than those of the year prev ious, but we have not the means of forming a calculation on the increase. Thle following are the estimates of thle Commissioner of Patents, with regard to the crops of wheat and Indian corn for 1845. We have div-ided( the United States into two sections-thle first, erlbracing the Atlantic States and Mlichiganl (as the markets of the latter are principally obtained via the Hludson river and the St. Lawrence)the second, em-bracing the Valley of the MIississippi, excluding xvestern Penns)-lvaiia, Virginia and New York: ATLANTIC STATES AND OIICIIIGAN. If we asstnbe thec agglr'tlte, howve-er, to be about the total amount of the crop of 1S15, and atdl(l a snmall increase for that of 1816, we imay take the wixvheait crop of 1S-16( at 110 miilliolis, and that of Indian corn at 46(0 millions of bushels.* On this basis it appears tlhat oiur exports to for(i,?2n cotlIniris, for tile }-ear elIding( Sept. 1, 1S47, amiotitit(1(I ill (ilantity to abott 25 per cent. on the crop of wheat, and less than 5 per cent, on the cropl) of It(lidiln corn.
