.NOTICE T'O SUBSCRIBERS. THEa publisher of the Biblical Repertory, under the impression that existing circumstances call for some mutual explanations and corrections, begs leave to make the following statements to the patrons of the work. As to the complaints which have occasionally been made by the subscribers. I. Want of punctuality in bringing out the numbers of the Repertory. The publisher has in this matter done what he could. In a work so entirely original, and appearing, in such large divisions, some irregularity is to be expected. Every effort shall be made in future to remove this evil. II. The failure of subscribers to receive their copies of the work. This is an evil over which the publisher has no control. It belongs to the mail department. The most scrupulous care is always taken properly to put up, and faithfully to mail the numbers as they appear. This being the case, the publisher cannot be held responsible for their safe arrival. He may and does deeply regret, and would gladly cure the evil, but it lies beyond his power, and the risk on his part ceases when the work leaves his hands. III. Irregularity in presenting bills to some who have paid distant agents. This may occur in various ways. A want of promptness in some who were formerly agents, in making their returns. In all such cases the subscribers who had paid would appear on our books as in arrears, though in fact not so. Again, it is the publisher's rule to put a bill in the April number of every subscriber, who to appearance has not paid, with the understanding that if in the mean time he has paid an agent, he will consider it as unknown to the publisher, and virtually withdrawn.
