Common iron, at 7- cents per lb.,.. $210.00 Galvanized iron, No. 26, at 20 cents per lb.,.... 105.00 Galvanized iron, No. 20, at 18 cents per lb.,.... 80.00 Other materials to make the whole cost, 800.00 A house seventeen feet square outside, ten feet inside, is estimated to cost four hundred and seventy-five dollars, and will hold two hundred and fifty bushels. Large houses, with an entry through the middle, with five or six rooms on each side, cost about one dollar for every bushel they hold. Preservators for family use may be made or placed in the cellar, shed, in the yard, or any where else where there is room at an expense but little above that of a common refrigerator, except for the patent, which need be but a trifle to give the inventor a fortune. The Cost of Running a Preservator. In one holding seven thousand bushels of fruit, the whole cost for a year was but one hundred and fifty-five dollars, except for ice, and ice costs less than in a refrigerator of the same capacity, as ice may be put in all at once for a whole season, and work from one winter to another without one hour's additional labor, until the last pound is melted, and if the construction is perfect, the temperature in the preservator not vary a single degree.
