UR camp at the Carizo Springs was destined to be neither an agreeable nor a profitable one, as the reader will readily understand, when I relate the adventures of the night. _ After we had partaken Cf our I:~ ~~'~~supper, and had seen our animals safely picketed where they could obtain good grass, we seated ourselves around the smouldering camp-fire, and, smoking our pipes, enjoyed the calm beauty of the night.
