The use of vO/ 80~o is highly figurative, The cruel chain that pastured on ny feet. 1352.-Supply iE'. 1353. —dE XaptL (se. E/ov), FPor mzy gratitzude. 1356. —&crr is here understood, making the same sense as 1359. —Repeat the d'v with &kCX-p/v. ---- porots Jiro dv is another instance of the plural for the singular, before alluded to. The mother, Jocasta, is, of course, here intended. 1362. —fL/oy~7~v, Co-parent. 1364. —rp1EgrEEpov, 11/for-e inveterate. 1367. —/EfovkXEora-a. KaX, s, "In making thyself blind." 1368.-roTra d-' v ro3a. 1369.-W-c depends on CKK83aO-KE and o-avijovlXvE. - Ta83E refers to the blinding of (Edipus. 1373.-oh' 8voy, sc. Kara, i. e., Laius and Jocasta. 1374.-KpkL'o'ova avyXovys, Greater than hanzging, i. e., of a worse character than those which deserve hanging as a punishment.
