Map IX. The course under the Yuen (Mongol), and, so far as the channel running due east from
Kaifung is concerned, under the Ming and Tatsing (Manchu) dynasties down to the
middle of the present century. That portion of the Imperial canal lying north of the
Yellow river is indicated, it being mainly in the channel excavated by the river during
the Kin dynasty.
