tical problems the world asls them to solve. The world does
not have a field ready for the student in book-lore. The state.
ments of Mr. Love should be carefully read.
8. It is an educational book. Any one can give some
formal work to girls and boys. What has been needed has
been some one who could find out what is suited to the little
child who is in the " First Reader," to the one who is in the
"Second Reader," and so on. It must be remembered the
effort is not to make carpenters, and type-setters, and dressmakers of boys and girls, but to educate them by thesme sceeu
tions better than without them.
