On behalf of the medical-student editors and reviewers, faculty advisors, and colleagues at Michigan Publishing Services and the University of Michigan Library, we proudly present the third issue of the Michigan Journal of Medicine. All manuscripts in this issue are written, reviewed, and edited by medical students from the University of Michigan Medical School. The editors of this issue were fourth-year medical students who participated as part of a longitudinal Academic Communications elective.
In addition, we are excited to announce a new development that impacts future issues. We have opened submissions to all University of Michigan students pursuing a doctoral degree in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, biomedical sciences, nursing, and public health. This development enables us to expand from an annual to a semiannual publication.
We want to express our sincere appreciation to all of the authors who submitted their work to the Michigan Journal of Medicine. In addition, the hard work of our editorial staff, reviewers, faculty advisors, Michigan Publishing Services, and the University of Michigan Library has been unparalleled. We look forward to the continued expansion of the journal under the leadership of the incoming Editors in Chief, Lynze Franko and Sagar Deshpande.
