Sam[ue]l L. Mitchill ALS to [Catharine Mitchill], December 29, 1806
Correspondence, 1801-1829 [Box 2, Folder 9]
VicePresident has been very ill for a fortnight of a low fever- for a part of the time very seriously - but is, mending for a day or two past, as I understand. - On the last Assembly night, I was told that the Com- -pany at Stelle's, was very small. Tho Mrs. Madison escorted Mrs Erskine there, the great Ball-room contained but a thin exhibition of company. Mrs. M. told me so hereself. I was not there. Mr. Mumford arrived sooner than your let- -ter. He told me he had seen you, and had delivered to me a very loving Message from you. The Weather has grown cold again - and I have but little to write in addition to the preceding Sentences. For the remaining news of this place I refer you to the Intelligencer. As to Mrs. Bunces claim, I recollect to have thought the claim would never be allowed - and so I think still. Yours, my dear, heartily & affectionately Sam L Mitchill
