No 15 Washington, Decr. 29. 1806 Your favour, my love, of the 23rd. De- -cember has reached, and delighted me highly. You are cer- -tainly, by far the most interesting and agreable corres- -pondent I have. Continue to be so, and in return I promise you as much fidelity and variety in my letters as has distinguished them heretofore. I urge with the more earnestness the continuance of your favours, for each note I receive from you, revives and exhilarates me, like the inhalation of vital air. I beg therefore you will not deprive me of so necessary & agreable a Stimu- -lus. At Mrs Madison's on Saturday I saw Mrs. Jack- son. She made inquiry after you in a friendly way, and chatted a good deal with me. She looks paler & sadder than formerly. This has improved in some res- -pect her appearance.
