There is not at present any great press
of Business before Congress. Nor does it appear
to me that there will be. The President's Message
does not contain the germs of many Bills or
of much legislative proceeding. In the H. of Rs.
all is quiet. There are no violent Speeches, nor
indeed debates of any kind to give entertainment
to the galleries.

Burr's expedition now engrosses
almost all the intervals, between the Battles of
Bonaparte; and the eyes of our Politicians are
alternately directed to Ohio and Prussia. The
Superintande of the execution of the Laws, being
vested by the Constitution, in the President, Con-
-gress has nothing to do at present in the Busi-
ness, untill News shall arrive of treason com-
-mitted against U.S. by levying War, or by some
other outrage requiring the interference of Congress
in aid of the Executive. The omens at present are
