as you once saw them display at the Exhibiti- -on-Room in Broadway. I have not however been to see them. Mrs Cutts has produced a Boy since her arrival here. And the reason, as her husband told me, why they hurried so rapidly thro Newyork, was that she might finish her journey in season to bring forth at Washington. Mr Coles, the private Secy. of the Pre- -sident made a gallant inquiry after you, a day or two ago. Mrs. Doyne our hostess told me she had received intelligence, that Mrs. Jackson would not be here within a fortnight; and that she might let her Rooms if applicants offerred. Yesterday I made a motion in the Senate relative to the fortification & Defence of Seaports and harbours. Col. Burr is certainly stirring up trouble in Kentucky. But I hope his projects will be frustrated. The Gentlemen from the Western States make light of it; but there is undoubtedly
