S[amuel] L. M[itchill] ALS to [Catharine Mitchill], January 2, 1804
Correspondence, 1801-1829 [Box 1, Folder 33]
47 Washington, Jany. 2, 1804 My dear wife I hope you have received "the Friend of "Women," a little instructive book which I sent you a day or two ago; as well as my other communications. The Na- -tional Intelligencer of this day will give you the public news; and as for private intelligence, it is so early in the morning that I have not heard any thing of importance as yet. Everybody is meditating a a visit to the Presidents to wish Mr. Jefferson an happy Newyear. At the Government House I suppose their will be, as usual, a collection of all the Ladies and Gentlemen hereabout, forming a considerable display of hearty and gallantry. I purpose to go and present myself on the occasion; and then if there is any thing memorable, I shall be able to write you an account of it. - The Weather is very fine and almost as mild as October. - Yours my love most tenderly and affectionately Sam L Mitchill (turnover)
