(a) To offer reproach or disparagement, utter a rebuke; ppl. upbreidinge as noun: those who reproach, disparagers [quot. a1400]; (b) to reproach (sb.), disparage, upbraid; ~ for (of), reproach (sb.) for (sb. or sth.), blame for; (c) to offer reproach for (sth.), disparage, criticize, rebuke; also, mock (Jesus’ pain); also, with that clause as obj.: say disparagingly (that sth. is so); ~ sinnes to us, reproach us for (certain) sins; shal hit ben me opbroidin, it shall be made as a reproach to me, I shall be reproached for it.
