Join The Michigan Daily Alumni Photographers Project

Join the legacy of Michigan student photographers including Jay Cassidy, Steve Kagan, Andy Sacks, and Sara Stillman! Help enrich the visual history of the University of Michigan by adding a sample of your work as a Michigan Daily photographer to the university archives at the Bentley Historical Library. For each photographer, a portfolio of up to 50 images will be created within The Michigan Daily Alumni Photographers Project.

Portfolios will be preserved, cataloged, and presented online by the Bentley Historical Library in cooperation with the University of Michigan Library. Credit will go to you and copyright is yours to retain if you choose.

There are several options for submitting images to the project:

  • Make a selection of images from your negatives and digitize them yourself (please consult with the Bentley on appropriate technical specifications)
  • Make a selection of images and have the Bentley create digital copies (returning negatives and/or prints to you)
  • Donate your entire collection to the archives and the Bentley will create digital files from a selection of images.

If you would like to participate in The Michigan Daily Alumni Photographers Project, please contact Aprille McKay (, Assistant Director for University Archives and Records Management. We ask that you provide a bit of biographical information (which will be included in your portfolio) and a brief description of each image you wish to submit, including a title/caption, date taken, and any narrative information you think relevant its description or context.
