BIOGRAPHICAL DEPARTMENT.-Continued, 81 NAME Kile, flartin Lane, W. B. 4X -, Murdich, Geor Osgood, R. A. Rutherford, T. Ross, A. N.. JUNIATA TOWNSHIP.-Continued... Son of Chauncey and Emaline Kile, born December 6, 1852, in Independence Township, Oakland County, Michigan. Mr. Kile's father was a native of New York; his mother, Emaline Wise, was a native of New Jersey. He made his home with his parents until his marriage. Married Agnes Price, November 19, 1879, in Columbiaville. She was born February 13, 1864, in Headly Township, Lapeer County. Her parents moved to Bay City in 1875. Mr. Kile's parents moved to Metamora in 1853, where he lived until his marriage, when he bought his present farm. Children born to them three, William, born November 7,,1883; Mable E., born November 30, 1885; Susan C., born April 17, 1893.. Only son of Malcom and Cornelia E. Lane, born February S 18, i865, in Gustavus Township, Trumbull County, Ohio. His parents sold their property in Ohio and moved to Michigan in 1879, and settled in Vassar, where they lived for many years. At the age of eighteen Mr. Lane went to work by the month, and continued to farm for about seven years. He then went West to the Pacific Coast, and was gone two years. He returned to Vassar. He was married while West to Daisy Johnson, August 17, 1890, in Boistfort, Washington. After his return to Vassar he worked at farming for two years and then worked in a saw mill two years, at which time he bought his present farm. Children born to them two, Raymond W., born June 5, 1892, and Lola M., born Julne 7, 1894. -ge U.Son of Henry and Emaline Murdich, born June 15, 1860, in Koylton Township, Tuscola County, Michigan. Henry Murdich was a native of Middlesex, Ontario. His parents were natives of Orange County, N. Y. Mrs. Henry Murdich was a native of Ontario. He lived with his parents until after his father's second marriage in 1876, when he went to work by the month farming and lumbering. Married Cora A. Fox, March 3, 1881. She was born in Ohio, January 5, 1863. Her father, Jesse Fox, was a native of Pennsylvania, and her mother, Caroline E. Fox, a native of Ohio. Her parents moved to Vassar Township in 1870, and in 1875 moved to Juniata Township. Soon after his marriage Mr. Murdich bought their present farm. Children born to them two, Bessie Bell, born November 16, li88i; Vera E., born November i, 1889.... Son of Asa and Sarah J. Osgood, born May 27, 1862, in Mansfield Township, Tioga County, Pa. Mr. Osgood made his home with his parents until 1888, at which time he came to West Branch and worked in the himber woods..Married Emma Bennett, October 14, 1888. She was born April 25, 1871, in Mayville, Michigan. They have no children. M.. Oldest son of John and Mary Rutherford, born August 4, 1836, in Mullarthy Township, Aramagh County, Ireland. His parents came to America and, settled in Juniata Township, Tuscola County, Michigan, in 1856. Their farm joins Mr. Rutherford's on the south. His parents spent their. lives there. At the time.his parents came to this country * Mr. Rutherford was attending a school supportedby a fund devised by Erasmus Smith, where he completed his education. He made his home with his parents until 1865. Married Adelaide W'arren, August IO, 1865. They had one child,,born May 13, 1866, George Rutherford. Mrs. Rutherford died July 12, i866. Married Lydia J. Miller, August IO, 1867. They had five children, May J., born July 30, 1869; Herbert L., born August 30, 1870; Elmer F., born April 26, 1872; Charles S., born November 26, 1873; Guy B., born' January 22, 1882. Mrs. Rutherford died April 3, 1888. Mr. Rutherford married Charlotte Carmichael, March 8, 1892. 'Mr. Rutherford has held many offices in this township, and is now Justice of the Peace and Township School Inspector.... Son of Albert and Catherine Ross, born June 31, 1876, in Mildmay, Ontario. In 1877 Mr. Ross' parents came to Huron County, Michigan. At the age of thirteen years Mr. Ross started out,to take care of himself. He has worked more or less in shingle mills and saw mills and has run stationary engines. Married Ethel Faber, March 27, 1898. She was born in Livingston County, Michigan. Mr. Ross came to Tuscola County in the fall of 1898, and in 19o00 settled on his present farm. They have one child, Anna Mabel, born May 14, 1900. abeth Oldest daughter of Joseph and Mary Treadway. Her father was a native of Vermont. Her mother was a native of New York. Mrs. Rowland was born September 21, 1850, in Lapeer County. She was married to Mr. Andrew N. Rowland, March 18, 188o. He was born April 18, 1828, in Boonville, Oneida Cottunty, N. Y. He came to Michigan in 1850o. In I851I he took up the land his family lives on. A part of the farm was taken up by his father as a war claim of 1812. Mr. Andrew Rowland died Auglust 28, 1898. Children born to them three, Blanch 'M., born September 25, i88i; Joseph W., born May 20, 1885; Alexander, born March 18, 1888, and died in infancy. John. Son of Frederick and Lena Wittenburg, born May io, 1839, in Mecklenburg Schwerin, Germany. Served as a soldier six years. He served in 186o and 1861 for two years, and in 1866 served in the war between the rebellious provinces of Austria for about four months. In 1867 'he came to America, landed in New York, and came from there to Detroit, and shortly after went to work on a farm at Gross Point, and *worked there two years. Married Louise Grambo, Decemnber 25, 1869. She was born November ii, 1853, in Mecklenburg. Schwerin, Germany, and came to America, to Gross Point, in 1I866. Mr. Wittenburg worked by the day for a couple of years, thenrented a farm for a time, until he bought his present farm in Juniata Township, Tuscola County, in 1894. Children born to them thirteen, William, born August 29, 1873; Matilda F. C. H., born March 12, 1874; Edward, born July 25, 1875; Anna, born AugUSt 22, i88o; Elizabeth, born February 17, 1883; NAME JUNIATA TOWNSHIP.-Continued. Frankie, born March 18, 1885; he was a twin, and the other died; Clara, born January 11, 1888, died in infancy; Mattie, born April 10, 1890; Arthur, born May 21, 1893; Laura, born April 30, 1895, died in infancy; Iva, born October 16, 1898. DENMARK TOWNSHIP. Buchinger, George. Mr. Buchinger was born in Saginaw County, September 19, 1869. He came with his parents to Tuscola County years ago, and has lived here since on his present farm. Married Laura Buetow, September 5, 1897. They have two children, Ruth, born June 23, 1899, and Annie, born March 5, 1901. Bernthal, Fred... Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bernthal, born July 21, 185o, in Frankenmuth, Michigan. Married Mary Schwab, June 18, 1876, in Richville. She was born August 30, 1854, in Richville. They have five children, Anna D. M., born August 12, 1877, now Mrs. John G. Rogner; John M., born February i'I, 1879; George A. L., born August 9, i881i; Lizzie K., born July 12, 1884; Annette M. R., born June 14, 1894. Frank, John... Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Frank, Sr., of Frankenmuth, Michigan. Married Sophia Schluckebier, August 23, 1893. She was born July 20, 1870, in Frankenmuth. They have two children, Alma G., born June 30,. 1895; Luceil, born January 19, 1901 Hecht, George.. Mr. Hecht was born in Frankenmuth, Michigan, January 24, 1858, and lived there twenty-four years, then located in Denmark Township, on his present farm. Married Miss E. B. Helmrich, June 13, 1883. She was born October 6, 1859, in Bay County, Michigan. They have four children, Mary B., born March 29, 1884; George A., born February 8, 1886; John L., born October 20, 1887; Adolph A., born May Io, '1894. Karl, George... Mr. Karl was born November 12, 1836. Married Christina Bower, March 26, 1884, in Saginaw County. She was born in Merking, Germany, January 2, 1848, and came to America with her parents while young. They have two children, Mary, born June 23, 1885, and Barbara, born November 17, 1888. Kern, F. W.... Mr. Kern was born February 24, 1846, in the southern part of Germany, and came to America in July, 1861. Settled.-.. -...... - -. - in Denmark Township in 1872. Married Catherine Hartman, September 13, 1872. She was born April 25, 1852, in Germany. They have five children. Letter, William.. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Lotter, of Pererian, Germany, was born August 30, 1853, in Frankenmuth, Michigan, and has been engaged in general farming. He located on his present farm in Denmark Township in 1878. fIcCollum, Louis. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry McCollum, was born April 15, 1841, in Rutland, Rutland County, Vermont. Came with his parents to Genesee County, Michigan, and resided there twenty-five years; was engaged in farming. He enlisted August 26, 1861, in Company D, Twenty-third Michigan Infantry, and was honorably discharged at the close of the war. 'He returned to Michigan and worked for J. D. Smith, of Vassar, for a time. He then bought his present farm in Denmark Township. Married Mary S. Wilcox, May 22, 1866. She was born February 5, 1842, in Washtenaw County. They have four children, Minnie F., born 'October 8, 187o; Arthur L., born November 24, 1873; Jessie, born January 24, 1883; Andrew 0., born April 7, l886. Rogner, M..... Son of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Rogner, was born, in Saginaw County, Michigan, November 17, 1859. He resided in Saginaw County until i88i, when he located in Denmark Township. Married Lizzie Renard, November 9, 1885. She was born in Saginaw Counrty, March i, 1861. They have nine children, Caroline, born November 2I, 1886; Henry, born February 28, i888; Willie, born November 2, '1889; Clara, born October 31, 1891; Selina, born June 17, 1893; Guli, born April 14, 1895; Sophrona, born September 1O, 1896; Rachena, born November 9, 1898; Norman, born July 24, 1900. Rogner, George.. Mr. Rogner was born in Saginaw County, Michigan, July 14, 1861. 'Moved to Denmark Township and located on his present farm years ago. Married Mary Buchinger, November 24, 1889. She was born March 4, 1'865. They have two children, Alma B., born September 28, 1890, and Edna M., born October 30, 1895. Schluckebier, P. C. Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schluckebier, of Frankemuth, Michigan, was born October.21, 1863. Married Anna B. Stern, October 29, 1899. She was born November 26, 1866. They have no children. Shultz, Charles.. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Shultz, Of Goldenberg, Macklennburg, Germany, was born August 14, 'i851, in Detroit, Michigan. Married Matilda Kuhl, December 8, 1872. Mr. and Mrs. Shultz located on their present farm many years ago. They have five children, Henry, born December 7, 1873; Matilda F. C., born January 16, 1876; Anna F. E., born December io, 1879; Albert C. F., born November 30, 1889; Otto W., born December 25, 1893. Shultz, William.. Mr. Shultz was born in Richville, Michigan, March 5, 1857. Married Margartha Winkler, in Saginaw, May 19, 1879. She was born August 20, 1859, in Saginaw County, Michigan. They have six children, Lydia C., born March 19, 188o; Frederick M., born July 25, 1882; George S., born April 12, 1885; Alma C., born April 29, i888; Amanda M.. born September 2, 1894; Matilda L., boin February 3, 1896. Walt, John.... Mr. Walt was born February II, 1846, in Switzerland. He came to America in 1864, to Denmark Township, and engaged in farming. Married Lizzie Kamen, August 3, 1873. She was born, May 5, 1849, in Bavaria. Came to America and located in Denmark Township in 1851. They have seven children, John J., born June 1, 1874;, George L. -born Rowland, Eliz Wittenburg,
