(Deceased), came to Missaukee Co. in 1877, and with his wife and family of four children settled on section 24, West Branch Township. Mr. Bell was a surveyor and timber estimator, and surveyed the new roads and the West Branch and Falmouth State road. He was chairman of the first board of school examiners elected in Missaukee Co., and served for several years. A suitable G. A. R. Monument marks his grave in Star City Cemetery telling of the four years' service he gave his country in his early manhood. Bell, Mrs. Laura, came to Missaukee County in 1877, having engaged to teach the winter term of school in District No. 2. Since that time she has taught five terms in the Star City school, the last term closing June 28th, 1895. She has also taught for several consecutive years in District No. 3, and has given instruction in vocal and instrumental music to many pupils in the surrounding country.
