Father died when only 48 years old and mother still survives at the ripe old age -of 8 9 years. There were five children in his father's family. The author of this sketch was the second child aand was born May 31, 1845. Was engaged in farming and emigrated to Durham County, Ontario, near Pt. Hope, May 16, 1883, and later emigrated to Huron County, Mich., Jan. 28,' 1887, and located on his present place. Married in England to Rachel Hughill, the daughter of John and Mary Hug,3hill, natives of England, and later married to Mary Cline, daughter of William and Ann McGillivrary, whose father was a native of Scotland and mother a native of England. Mother died near Port Dover, County of Norfolk, at the age of 48 and the father died near Elketon, Mich.,at age of 80 years. The subject of this sketch married Frances Smith, daughter of Thomas and Mary Smith, who was the eldest of three children and born Dec. 13, 1857; her sister, Elizabeth, was born May 10, 1859; and her brother Thomas W., was born Dec. 29, 1861. They were united in marriage on Nov. 5, 1873, in Ca'ledonia, Haldeman C-ounty, Ontario. There are six children in the family, Geo. Mr. McGillvrary is a blacksmith by trade and has followed that business in the village of Elkton since 1866, having built the first residence and brought the first family to the village of Elkton, Huron- County. H-as followed lumbering mostly since inovlug- to the United States. Marrie-d in Sarnia, Ontarlo, to Sarah E. Mitchell, daughter of Charles and Mary Mitchell, who -were natives of Scotland. His wife was born May 18, 1863. His father was a natire of Scotland and his mother of Eng-land. There care eight children, William H-., 20 years old; Archie A., 16.;- Charles, 13; Kate J., 11; Mary E., 8; IT-ussel J., 5; Bessie G., 3 years old. NEISCHULZ, ADOLPH. Father -and mother natives of Germany., They had three children, Herman, Henry. Adolph, the subject -of this sketch, was born Oct. 1, 1871. Married Mary Meyer, daughter of Fred Meyer. She -had one sister, Dorothy. They were married May 10, 1900, in Berne, Mich. There was one child, Albert, who died when one week old and was buried in Berne Ceometery. They have' a nice frame house, good barn and a pleasant farm home. NEELY, ANDREW. S~on of Andrew and Elizabeth Neely. Parents were born in Ireland, father died at -the -age of 7 2 and mother at the age of 63, and both are laid to rest in Ireland. There wrere. six children in the father's and -mother's family, Isabella, George, Robert, Elizabeth, Andrew, the subject of this sketch, was born Feb. 10, 1840; Fanny. Married Elizabeth Wilson, daughter of James and Jane Wilson, natives -of Ireland, and to' whom were born five children, Annie; Susan; Sarah; Elizabeth, born in 1840; Robert. Her parents are both dead and buried in Ireland. They wrere married Mat'ch 23, 1869, in Ireland and emigrated to Canada where they resided for six years when they emigrated to Oliver Township, Huron County, Mich., where they have since resided. There are six children, Elizabeth, Samuel, James, Andrew, Sarah Jane, Robert, L all -of wvhom are living and all of wh~om were born in Ireland. They have a fine productive farm of 110 acres and their son James owns a fine farm of 80 acres in Oliver Toxvnship, with a good orchard and barn. RYCKMAN, F. A. Son of William D. and Margaret Elizabeth (Loomis) Ryckinan. Natives of Canada. The subject of this sketch was born in Canada, March 8, 1852. Came to Michigan in 1873, settling on his present farm in 1882. Married Mary Terhune, daughter of Samuel and Jane (Post) Terhune. Her father being -a native of New Jersey and her mother of Canada. They were married Oct. 29, 1873. Children are William R., born July 25, 1874; Elizabeth J., born April 19, 1876; Mary Bell, born Dec. 2'6, 1877; Anna Mabel, born Feb. 1, 1880; Alice Edna, born June 29, 1882; Etta May, born May 28, 1884; Franklin A. E., born April 22, 1886; Sarah Iola, born March 2, 1894. Anna Mabel died Feb. 5, 1888. All the rest are alive and live in Huron County, except Mary Bell, who resides in Canada. SCHIELE, DAN. Son of Robert and Catherine Schiele, i.s the oldest of a family of four children and was born Dec. 6, 1873; his other brothers and sisters are William G., born Oct. 13, 1875; Charles E., born Oct. 14, 1877; and Louisa, born in 1880, and now deceased. Married Annie Elizabeth Leuge,, daughter of Justus and Catherine Leuge, she being the oldest of a family of three children and was born Feb. 11, 1874. Her brothers are Samuel, born Aug. 17, 1878 and William Henry, born Feb. 12, 1884, and who died Feb. 27, 1899, and was buried in the 'Schiele and Guenther Cemetery, Elk-. ton, Mich. They were united in marriage Aug. 6, 1895, in Elkton. Is the son of Christoph and Maria Schutte, of German nativity. -To his father and mother were born six children, Henry, born Sept. 5, 1869; Maria, born Oct. 24, 1872; William, horn Dec. 10, 1876; Christoph, the subject of this sketch was born Oct. 31, 1879; Anna, born Oct. 3, 1884, and August, ýborn Oct. 3, 1884. Maried Sophia Bergman, daughter of Henry and Sophia Bergman, both natives of Germany, and to whom were born eight children, Doris, born April 11, 1875; Sophia, who is wedded to. the subject of this sketch, was born Dec. 23, 1879; Freida Recca, born Feb. 9, 1881; Henry, born July 18, 1885; Gustave, born April 3, 1888; Adolph, born Aug. 10, 1890; Wilhelm, born June 28, 1892; and Maria, born Dec. 6, 1893. SORENSON, PETER. Born in Maniager, Denmark, April 23, 1854. Came to the United States in 1873. Married Mary C. Campbell April 11, 1877, She was born in Koinaka, Ontario, Canada, Nov. 27, 1856, and came with her parents to Michigan when she was four years of age. The family settled on Section 36, in Oliver, -in 1877. Mr. Sorenson is one,of the pioneer citizens of Huron County and was a voter -at the first election held in Oliver Township, which was held in an old deserted lumber shanty and at which there were only 22 votes cast. There are six children, William H., born May 7, 1878; Arthur A., born Nov. 8, 1881; George M., born March 221, 1884; Roy M. and Ray N., born Aug. 31, 1887, and Anna Mab)el, born July 19, 1889. SOUTHWORTH, CHARLES E. Son of Nelson. E and Mary Southworth. Father was a native of Ver'mont and mother of Canada. There were ninechildren in his father and mother's family. The author of this sketch was the eighth child and was born in the village of Thefiford, 30 miles east of Sarnia, in Canada. Received a common school education and was brought up on a farm. Emigrated to Huron County in the fall of 1889 and located in Oliver Town-ship. The -author of thi-s sketch was born Oct. 23, 1869, and marrie~d Mae Wager, daughter of Franklin and Jane Wager. She is a native of Canada and was born in Thedford, Ont., March 19, 1876. They have three children, Bernice Marie, four years old on March 13, 1804; George Victor, 3 years old-the 1st day of May 1904, 'and Charles Franklin, I year old 'the 2d day of March 1904..C SUTPHEN, EUGENE. Was h-orn in MacComb County, Mich., Aug. 19, 1843. Son of John and Adaline Sutphen, and was the first child of his father's family of eight children., Lived with his parents unti'l he was 21 years old and from there he moved to Capac, Mich., where he remained three years and from there removed to Oliver Township, Huron County, Mich. He was married in 1867 to Catherine Campbell, daughter of Thomas Campbell, of Oakland County, Mich. She was born Aug. 4, 1844. They have resided in Huron Qounty -since 1891. They have eight children, Jefferson, who was born June 23, 1868; Marshal, who was-born Oct. 12, 1870; Mary, who was born Dec. 20,- 18.72; Sarah, who was born Aug. 2, 1877 and died when 2 years old; Elm-er, born Dec. 1, 1874; Fred, Oct. 12.7 1879; Armanda, Feb. 2, 1881; and Kk~te., born July 27, 1884. All live in Huron County except Marshal, who resides in Oakland County. TURNER, JAMES. Son of James and Jane Turner. Father native of England, m~other native of Scotland. Father emigrated to Quebec, Canada, in 1852. Was a carpenter by trade. Father died in Tuscola County at age of 76 years. Mother died in Tuscola County at age of 79 years.. There were 11 children in his father's and mother's family, six boys and five girls. The author of this sketch was the sixth child of -his father's family and was born near the city of Woodstock, Canada, on June 17, 1849. Has been farmer, carp-enter and engaged in lumbe-r u'oods. He-.emigrated in 1856, settling in Tuscola County, Mich., and in spring ofý 1891 came to Huron County, Mich. Married Flora L. Lee, who was daughter of Wflliam Lee, a native of Ohio, and who was born iný Fremont, Ohio, and is now in 1904, 41 years of age. They have four boys, Melvin B3., who is 22; Milan S., who is 19; Russell, who is 17; and Ward J., who is i.3 years of age. Born in Middlesex. County, Ontario, March 26, 1858. Came to Huron County -when 11 years old. Married in 1882 to Ann Murdock. They have two children, Alice and Robert Ira. Mr. Richardson has been a school officer for two terms. RICHARDSON, GEORGE W. Eldest son of James and Margaret (Nenealin) Richardson. Born in London Township, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada, in 1859. Came to Huron County in 18.60. Married Oct. 6, 1898, to Maggie Armitage, daughter of Levi Armitage. There are two children, Elsie, born 1899; Russet, born Jan. 20, 1902. ROSS, STEPHEN. Son of James and Mary (Collie) Re s. Born in Hampshire, Scotland. Son of Robert and Olive (Gould) Scott. Born in New York State, April 10, 1850. Married in 1878 to Jane Ross, daughter of James Ross. His -mother is still living. There are no children. He was constable for a number of years. SCOTT, G.W.. Son of Robert and Olive (Gould) Scott. Born in New York, June 2, 1845. Came here with his father in 1857. He is, a single man and has bee n a constable and sch-ool assessor and makes a business of general farming.;COTT, REUBEN. Son of Robert Scott who went to Canada in 1854 and in 1857 came to Michigan and hbomestea ded land. Was born in New York, July 25, 1843. Was married at Lexington, Mich., to Angelina Hathaway. They had eight children of arhomi six are living, Robert G.; Alberta; Caroline; Elizabeth, now Mrs. Kapler; Mary, afterwards Mrs. McCash of Sand Beach is- deceased and buried in Sand Beach cemetery; Adell is deceased and buried in Ubly cemetery; Fern and Viola.
