BIOGRAP HIES 89 McINTYRE, ANGUS. Born in Invernesshire, Scotland, in 1834. Came to Canada in 1870 and to Hu-ron County in 1877. Is the son of Neil and Katie (McDonald) McIntyre.' Married to Flora McIntosh. They have four children: Flora, Hugh, Mary and Neil. McINTYRE, MATTHEW. Born in 1845 in Invernesshire, Scotland. Is son of John McIntyre, who emigrated -to Canada in 1848. Came to this -county in 1866. Married in 1872 to Flora Cameron,, the daughter of Donald and Sarah Cameron. They have had eleven children, of Whom ten are living: Christie, Kate, John, Dan, Alex, 'Archie, Thomas, Belle, Anna and Matthew. He is treasurer of the Farmers' Mut ual Fire Insurance CO. of Huron County and is engaged in buying stock. McISAAC, ANGUS. Son of Daniel Mcisaac. Born in Ifnverne~sshire, Scotland, in 1823. Bmigrated to Canada in 1848. Came to Sheridan Township in 1866. Married in Canada in 1854 to Eva McGinnis, daughter of Aleck McGinnis. They have had nine children, of whom eight are living: Ehoderick, Alexander, Donald, Mary, now Mrs. Boyle; Marie, no~w Mrs. F. A. Tepoorten of Bay City, Mi-ch.; Sarah, 'Who is deceased; Margaret, now Mrs. A. J. O'Neil of Highland, Cal.; John, o'f El Paso, Tex., and Kate, of West Branch, Mich. McLEAN, CHARLES. Born in Tnverne~sshire, Scotland, in 1858. Came to -Canada in 1865. Came to Huron County in 1872, and -settled in Sheridan Township in 1879. Married in 1896 to Mary Gillis, daughter of Alexander Gillis. They have had th-ree children, of whom one is alive, Charles A., born in Nov., 1899. Mr. McLean served one term as sheriff of Huron County, during 1897 and 1898. He 'has also been town supervisor. McLEAN, HUGH. Son' of Lauchlin land Rachel McLean, who were native~s of Inve~rness'hire, Scotland. The sulbject of this sketch was born in Canada in 1861. Came to Huron County in 1876. McLELLAN,. ANGUS. Son of Angus and Mary (McCormick) McLellan. Was born in Middlesex County, Ontario, 1849. -Came to Huron County in 1874. Married in 1881 to -Maggie McEachin. They have seven children: Flora A., Neil, Angus, William, James, Ca~therine and Annie. McTAGGART, JAMES. Aged 54 years. Lived in Sheridan Township 42 years. Was born in Scotland and emigrated to -Canada and was married in 1882. Has five children, two of wh~om are living. His father was Angus MoTaggart and mother was Jane Dewas. McTAGGART, J-OHN. Son of Angu~s MocTaggart and an(! Jane (Denlo) McTaggart. Born in Argyleshire, Scotland. Married in 1878 to Betsy Daniels, who was born in Canada. Was the fouth child of his fa~ther's family. Has been in the United States 42 years, and on his present place 28 years. MILLS, ALBERT. Born in Canada in 1879. Came to Huron County in 1883. Is the son of Nemia~h and Margaret (Clark) Mills. Married in 1901 to Mattie McCallum. They have one child, Jennie Emma May. MORRISON, DONALD. Born in Rosshire, Isle of Mull, Scotland. Son of Archie and Belle (McGilvsey) Morrison. Married Margaret Currie, daughter of LochianCurrie. They have a family of eight child in 1873. Is the -son of Donald and Margaret (Curry) Morrison. Came to Huron County -in 1884. Married Rosetta Wilson, daughter of John Wilson. They have three children: Royal W., Archie John, and Wilbur Luther. O'IIENLEY, ANGUS. Aged 54. Was born in Invernesshire, Scotland, and was the son of Donald and -Christina (McLellan) O'Henley. Married in 1880 to Mary McDonald. They have 'had 'ten children born to them, all of whom are living. The oldest is Katherine, who was born April 23, 1881; Alice;, born Feb. 1, 1883; Margaret, born Sept. 13, 1884; Christy, born Sept. 24, 1886; Annie, born Sept. 12, 1888; Jennie, born July 14, 1890; Mamie, born Sept. 6, 1892; Fannie, born June 22, 1894; Josie, born Nov. 21, 1896; Donald, born Feb. 13, 1901. O'HENLEY, ANGUS D. Born near Park Hill, Ontari-o, in 1871. Son of Daniel and Flora (Mc~ntosh) O'Henley. Came to Huron County in 1885 and has resided here most cif the time since. Married in 1902 to Sarah McCormick, daughter of Hugh McCormick. They have one child, Flora, born Nov. 6, 190-3. O'HENLEY, ANGUS J. Born In Middlesex County, Ontarlo, In 1860. Son of Donald and Christina (.McLellan) O'Henley, who were natives of Scotland. Came to Huron County in 1875 and has since resided here. Married April 4, 1894, to Ella Harrington, daughter of Henry Harrington. They have one child, Martin William, -Who was born April 20, 1895. Mr. O'Henley takes special pride raising a fine breed of sheep. O'HENLEY, DONALD D. Born in Middle-sex County, Ontario, in 1862. Son of Donald and Christina (McLellan) O'Henley. Came to Huron County in 1876 and has since resided here. Mr. O'Henley married in 1894, and there are four children in 'his -family, by name Helen Margaret, Frances Christina, William Michael and Mary Gertrude. O'HBNLEY, NEI-L J. Born in Middlesex County, Ontario, in 1866. Son of Donald and Christina (McLellan) O'Henley. Came to Huron County -in 1876 and has -since resided here. Married in Jun~e, 1896, to Christie McIntyre. They have had six children born to them, of whom five are living. The children are Flora Christina, Donald John, Christina May, 'Matthew Alexander and Neil James. PEARCE, J`OHN H. DBorn in Ontario in 1866. Son of William and Matilda (Warren) Pearce, both of whom are deceased and- laid to rest back in Canada. Mr. Pearce came 'to Huron County -in 1888 and wa~s married -in 189.5 to Marion Black, daughter 'of Duncan Black. There are four children in the family, by name James A., Edgar T., Velma A., and Mary Jane. Mr. Pearce is one of the leading farmers of Sheridan Township and makes a specialty of stock raising. ROBLIN, CH ARLES. S-on of A. R. and Lucy Ann (Dalma~dge) Roblin. Born in Sheridan Township, Huron County, Mich., in 1873. His father settled in Sheridan Toiwnship in 1866, being one -of the real early ' settlers of Huron County. Charles is the youngest of four brothers. ROBLIN, GEGRGE A. Son of A. K. and Lucy Ann (Dalmadge) Roblin. - Born in Ontario in 1864., Came to Huron County in September, 1866. Married Lula May Montague in 1901. There are no children in the family. ROBSON, J&;HN. Born in London Township, Ontario, in 1862, and is the son of Arthur and Jane (Shipley) Robson. He came 'to Huron County in 1881 -and has since that time resided here. Served six years as township clerk. Married Carrie Whillans. They have had four children 'born to them, of wich two are living, Helen, the olde st, and Arthur, -the youngest. SLACK, WILLIAM. Born in Oxford County, Ontario, in 1854. Son of James and Abigail (Woolley) Slack. ýCame 'to Huron County in 1868. Married in June, 1876, to Lucinda Jenkins, daughter of Andrew Jenkins. They h6~ve had thirte-en children blorn to them, of which ten are living, 'by name Andrew, Arthur, Herbert, Harvey J., Warren, Myrtle, Frank, William, James and Hazen. Mr. Slack takes great pride in a full-blooded Durham bull, and is a breeder of full-blooded Durham cattie, besides being engaged in general farming. SMITH, MALC'OLM. Son of Hugh and Ann ('McMullen) Smith. B-orn in Middlesex County, Ontario, in 1866. Came to Huron County in Oct., 1878. Married July 6, 1892, to Elizab-eth Smith, daughter of Sam Smith of Sheridan Township. There are three children: Hugh, born Feb. 7, 1895; Flora Elizabeth, born May 18, 1898, and Hattie Ann, born Sept. 2?, 1901. SWEENEY, TERREN.CE. The 'subject of this sketch was born in 1838 in Ontario and was the son of Terrence and Margaret Sweeney. He was married in Guelph, Ontario, in 1866, to Susanna Dew. He m-oved to Michigan in 1867, and settled in section 33, Sheridan, Where he still lives. They have ten children, all of whom are living. WATSON, NEIL. Son of William and 'Mary Watson. His mother and father were natives of Invernesshire, Scotland. 'They emigrated to Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada, in 1849. The subject of this sketch was born April 17, 1864, in Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada, and received a comm~on school educa~tion, and came to Huron County I-n 1881, and settled in Sheridan Township, where he is following the trade of carpenter and Joiner. Married Mary McIntyre, daughter of Donald and Flora M-cIntyre of Sheridan Township, and they have had seven children, four of whom. are living: Dronald, 10; Ca~therine, 8; Norman, 4, and May Agnes, 2 years old are those living. WATSON, J(OHN. Born in 1861 in Middlesex County, Ontario. Is the son of William and Mary (O'Henley) Watson. Came to Huron County in 1882 and have resided here since that time. Married in 1896 to Ma f, __ ry1 Dean.r"They ha-ve three 4A__ -Lch Ildren:- Kather- 4.-- BISHOP, FRANK. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Bishop, natives of England, -and who emigrated to Canada in 1846, settling near Galt, 'Ontario, where 'his m~othe~r died in 1848. In 1850 his father married Ann McQuaid, and in 1859 he removed to Hume Township, Huron County, Micb., where he died in'his 88th year. The mother still resides near Bay Port. The subject of this sketch was 'born in England in 1849, and moved to Canada with his parents where 'he grew up. Married Harriet Sweet in 1869, of Warwick, Ontario. He~r father died in 1868, and her mother in 1878. T;here were eight children: Millie S.; Eber, who is dead; William A., who is dead; Charles B., Landlin B., Clara, Ansley, Nettle F. HIs wife died in 1898. In 1902 he married Hester D. Woodhall, who was the mother of Pearl and David Lewis Woodhall, children of her first husband. The family has a very comfortable and pleasant home, and attend the M. P. church of Pinnebog. CHAMPAGNE, ALEXANDER. Son of Joseph and Rose -Champagne, who were born in Lower Canada, and where they died. The subject of this sketch was born in Lower Canada in 1843. In 1862 he emigrated to Michigan. Married Philomene Lenoway in 1874. There are tlrirteen children: Alexander, Joseph, Mary, Sarah, Phil~omene, Elizabeth, Adolph, Caroline, Lewis, Adelina, Paul, Frances and Mandy. The family are members of 'the Catholic church of Pinnebog, Mich. They have a very pleasant farm home. CONKEY, 'SAMUEL. Son 'of Robert and Jane (Wiley) Conkey. Both born in the north -of Ireland and emigrated to Canada in childhood. They were married in 1847 and -settled on a farm in Middlesex county, OntarI-o, Where they still reside. The subject of 'this sketch was born in Middlesex County, Ontario, in 1859. Married Amanda Hall in 1889. They moved to South Dakota, where they resided seven years, f~rom which place they ýcame and settied in Lake Township. There are five children: Zelma, born 1,890, died 1896; Alice B., 'born 1892; Velera, born 1895, died 1895; Hope J., born 1897; Samuel Hall, b-orn 1899. He has been township supervisor three years and justice of the peace nine years. The family have a very pleasant and comfortable hom-e and attend the Presbyterian church. FISHER, LEWIS K. Son of William and Meribee, Fisher. Fa~ther born in Canada and mother in Vermont.. They emigrated to Michigan, where 'the father died at age of 83 and the mot-her at age of 64. The subject of this sketch was born in Michigan in 1846. Married 'to Margaret Smith of Case yulle in 1871. There were five children: Lillian,.born 1873; Gland, born 1874; 'K-ýate, born 1877; tbianefle, born i684; Ethel, horn 188t). Mr. Fisher has held, different township offices., They have a 'pleasant and comfortable home, and they attend the M. B. church of' Caseville. FITCHETT, LEWIS. Son of Jacob and Rosella Fitchett, natives of Canada. The father died in 1883, and the mother resides in Canada with the youngest son. The subject of this ske~tch was born in Canada in 1853. In 1877 he was married to Matilda. Rumfo-rd, of Canada, whose parents are still alive -and reside in Canada. There are four children: Edyth, born 1878; Florence, born 1880; Alfred, born 1883; Ada, born 1885. Edyth is married to Francis Harrison, and they have two children. Florence is married to Edward Harrison. He settled with his family in Lake Township in 1878. Has served eight years as treasurer, and in the spring of 1903 was elected sup-ervisor, and reelected in 1904. They have a very pleasant and comforta~ble farm ho~me and attend the M. B. church at Pinnebog. HALL, A. H. Son of Robert and Elizabeth Hall. Father was born in Scotland and mother in Canada. His father came to Canada in 1834., and was married to his mother, Elizabeth Fonger, in 1842. His father died at age of 67 and the mother at age of 67. The subject of this sketch was born in Wellington County, Ontario, Canada,' in 1861. He moved to South Dakota in 1886, where he married Elizabeth Carrington. He came to Lake Towns~hip, Huron County, Mich., in 1902. There are four children: Roy, born 1890; Vera, born 1892; Ethel,,born 1894; Gladys, born 1900. They 'have a very pleasant and comfortable farm home and attend the Presbyterian church of Pinnebog. HARRISON,.ROBERT. Son of Ingraham and Elizabeth Harrison, both born in England. The father emigrated to Canada in 1853, and the mother in 1855, where the parents were married. In 1858 they -came'to Lake Township, Huron County, Mich., where the fat-her died in Jan., 1904, and the mother in June, 1904. The subject of this sketch was born in Canada in 1867; came to the United States in 1869 with his parents. Married Eliza~beth Branton in 1888. Her parents are still living near Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. There are'three children: Robert Roy, born 1890; Florence May, born 1891; Charles William, born 1896. The family are memhers of the M. B. church at Pinnebog, Mich. He was elected highway commissione-r in 1896 and again in 1897, and in 1904 was elected treasurer. HENRY, GE:OReGE. Son of Matthew and Annie Henry. Born in France and died there at the age of 80, and mother at age of 45. The subjecit of this sketch was born in France in 1841. He came to the United States in 1855. Ma~rried to Tolista. Tahosh of Chandler Township, where her parents still reside. There are four children: Alfred., Marquis, Mabel, George. The family have a beautiful and pleasant home and attend the Caseville M. E. chu-rch, KERR, JOHN. Son of Alexander and Elizabeth Kerr,, -natives of Ireland, who emigrated to Canada and settled near Hamilton, where they resided until union. His -wife died in 1891. He married Sarah N. Swal-well in 1892. There are three children, the result of the second union: Simon H., born 1896; Mabel Gladys, born 1897; Albert Edward, born 1901. The family have a very beautiful and com'fortable home, and -attend the M. E. church at 0 Pinnebog. LAURENCE, FRED. Son of Sebastian and Christina Laurence, natives of Germany, -Where the mother died in '18-60. Father emigrated to 'this country in 1884 and died in 1902. The subject of this sketch was born in Germany and ca~me to this country in 1880. Married Emma Meyer of Caseville in 1883. Her mother died in 190,3 and her father resides at Ca-seville. There are eight children: Emil, born 1883 and died 1890; Frank, b~orn 1887; George, born.1889; Lillie, born 1892; William, born 1894; Mary, born 1897; Clara, born 1898; Rose, born 1904. The family have a comforltable and pleasan't home and -are members of the German M. E. church -at Pigeon, Mich. LEWIS, SAMUEL G. Son of John and Elizabeth (Golts), who were both born in England, father dying at age of 67 and mother at the age of 90. The subject of this sketch was born in England in 1835 and came to this country in 1856. Married Mary Ann Patterson of Mornington, Ontario. In 1870 came to MIcdhigan and settled in Lake Township. There are six children: John, b-orn 1860, died 1894; William Isaac, Jennie, Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Sarah M., Emma. John was married to Mary Ann Hall. S'arah was married to J. A. Straley. Jennie was married to Alex. Griphen. 'Mary Ann was married to Arthur Edwards. His wife'die~d June 1, 1892. He is one of the pioneer -settlers of the county, and witnessed the fires of 1871 and 1881, in which so much property was destroyed and lives lost. The family have a beautiful and pleasant home and attend the Presbyterian church. McILHARGEY, FRANK. Son of Archibald, born in 1811, and Margaret Mcllh-argey, born in 1817. Both were born in Ireland and 'emigrated to Loudon, Ontario, where they were married. In 1859 they m~oved to Lake Township, where they both died at a ripe old age. The subject of this sketch was born in Ontario in 1852, land in 1859 came with his parents to Lake Township, where he married Clara Cobb, who w'as b-orn in 1859 and died July 5, 1897. The result of this union was ten children. In 1899 he was married to Mary M~oylan of Ontario. The children 'are Lavina, born in 1877; Ida, born in 1879; Mabel, born in 1881; Eugene, born i 'n 1883; Archie, born in 1885; John, born in 1887; tillie, born in 1889; Dennis J., born in 1891, and died in 1894; Cyril, born in 1895; Anna, born in 1897. Lavina is married to James Harrison and has two children. Ida is married to Zack Laughl-in and they have two children. They have a beautiful and pleasant farm home and are members of the Pinnebog Catholic church. McCORMICK, THOMAS. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth McG~ormick, natives of Ireland,' who came to this country in 1859 and settled in Lake Township, where the father died in Jan., 1900, and the ýmother in Feb., 1904. The subject of this sketch was born.in 1866. Married Julia MV. Power of Detroit in 1.902. Her fat-her died in 1889 and her mother resides in Lake Township with one of hur children. There is one child, Thomas J., born in August, 1908. He was elected clerk -of Lake Township in 1897, 'and has been re-elected seven consecutive times. The family are members of the Pinnebog Catholic church. They have a very beautiful and comfort-able farm home. There were ten children in his father's fam-ily: Michael, Patrick, Stephen, Ellen., Maggie, Mary, Thomas, Elizabeth, James and Julia. Flume Thwnship BATES, IRWIN. Son of Moses and Annie Bates. Father was born in Pennsylvania and mother born in Ohio. Iils parents were married in Ohio, afid in 1846 they settle~d in Williams County;, Ohio, where the yar ents died, the father at 55 and the mother par-45 The subject of this sketch was born in atm45t County, Ohio, in 1846. He -enlisted in the Summ it Co. H, Third Ohio Cavalry, in which he aermydin -oths He was in the battle of Kennisaw Mo-untamn, Selma, Alabama, and other minor battles. He was honorably discharged at Nashville,' Tennessee. In 1868 he was married to Dorothy Kinnie of Ohio. They moved to Hume Towns ehip in 1876. Mrs. Bates died in 1898. There are four children: Edna, Alma, Sylva, Maggie. Edna is married to Geo. Styles, and they have four children. Alma is married to John Connors, and they have five children. They 'have a very pleas-ant and comfortable home. CARMODY, MARGARET. Daughter -of William and' Mary O'Malley, who were bbrn in Limerick County, Ireland, and where they lived until death, the father dying at 63 and the mother at 33 years 'of age. The subject of this sketch was born in Ireland in 1856. In 1877 she came to this country and set-. tied at Port Huron, where she was married in 1881 to Martin Carmody, and in the same year they moved to Hume Township. There are six children: James William, born March 4, 1882; John P--atrick, born Aug. 6, 1883; Dennis, born Aug.. 28, 1881; Mary G., born April 8, 1889; Timothy, born May 15, 1891; Annie, born May 13, 1892. Mr. Carmody passed away in 1894. They have a pleasant farm home. CASEY, JAMES. Son of Martin and Bridget Casey,. who were born in Ireland and emigrated to Canada and settled in Medoiph Township, Huron County, Ontario, where they resided until their death, the. father at 60 years and the mother at 55. The su-bjecat of this sketch was born in Ontari-o in 1876. Came to the United States and m-arrie-d Agnes Con Etzler. There are four children: Cornelius, born in 1892; Peter, bhorn in 41895; Charles', born in 1900; Grace, born in 1902. They have a very pleasant and comfortable home, and the family are mem-bers of -the Catholic church of Pinnebog. ETZLER, EDWARD. Son of William and Sophia (Empkie) Etzler, natives of Germany, and who came to this country in 1863 and settled at Port Austin, Mich., and later in 18.66 to Hume Townshi.p, where they still reside. The subject -of this sketch. was born in Hume Township in 1877. Married Emma Sitie-be in 1891. He was elected township. clerk in 1-901 and has since held that office continuously. The family attend the Lutheran church at Port Crescent. FTZLER, WILLIAM. Son of Anton and Jorhanna Btgler, natives of Germany, and 'Who emigrated to America in 1853 and settled -in Ohi-o, where,they remained three years. In 1856 they came to HumeTownship and settled and lived there until the father died at the age of 84 and the mother at the age of 52. The subject of this sketch was born in Germany in 1840 and ca~me to this country with his parents in 18 65. Married Sophia Bmpkie. There were eight children: William, born 1867; Fred, born 1869; Charles, born 1873; Edward, born 1877; Emma, born 1874; Nellie, horn 18804 Lydia, born 1884; Clara, born 1888. Emma is married to Fra nk Stor-bet. Fred is married to Louise Me-lasean. Nellie is married to Charles Thomas. Edward is married to Emma Steibe. He is one of the pioneers of the county, and by his industry has provided a comforta'ble and pleas-ant home for the family. The family attends the Lutheran church at Port Crescent. JACKSON, S. A. Son of Ephraim and Mary ('Gould) Jack~son, who were 'born in Vermont and later settied in Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada, where they resided until their death,' the father dying at 69 and the mother at 73. The subject of this sketch was born in Canada in 1838. In 1864 he married Delia Allen of Middlesex County, Ontario. 'The family moved to Michigan in 1890 and settled in Hume Town'ship, where they still reside. There are two 'children: Allie May, born 1865, and married to Wallace Murray, and they reside at Port Hur-on, Mich., and have three children, by name Edward Allen, Viola May and Mary Adelia; Frank, born 1870; he resides with his parents. They have a fine farm, known as 'the Jackson Stock Farm, a comfortable, pleasant home, and the family attends the M. B. church at Kinde. KLEE, EMIL. Son of Joseph -and Eva Klee, bath born 'in Germany, and who emigrated to Canada and settled in Hay Township, Huron County, Ontario. They came to Michigan and settled in Paris Township, Huron County, in 1854, whether the father died at 'the 'age of 65 and the mother at the age
