ï~~TRIP TO GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, MONTANA, And Other Points in the West. July 8th, 1914. Wednesday night, Billy, Jack and I left Saginaw via Michigan Central for a Western trip. We spent Thursday, July 9th, shop ping in Chicago, as we needed an outfit for our rough work in the mountains. We went to Marshall Field's and got heavy shoes and riding breeches. Called on Deane, who went to lunch with us at Marshall Field's. Went to the Great Northern city ticket office. Mr. Burton, one of the clerks, was very accommodating, and made various suggestions as to our routing, tickets, etc., that proved helpful later on. Deane thinks he may join us later, as Jack is to stop off in Minneapolis, where Ted has been, while Billy goes on with me to Moose Jaw, where we are to determine fully about the plans for the new house at Buffalo Lake, and pick out the spot where it is to be located. Deane is to let Ted know whether he can meet him in St Paul next Monday. Our old friend, Col. Pearson, gives us a fine automobile ride around Chicago in the afternoon, and we get away on the Chicago, 1ilwraukee and St Paul, at 6;35, and have our dinner on the trairA Friday, July 10 th. Arrive at St Paul in the morning. Ted meets us. We breakfast at the St Paul Hotel, where I run across my old acquaintance, Dr. Lieth, of Madison, who was the Geologist and Mine Expert, that was with the Tax Commission, when we had our ~r-i 4 fj1 tba Iron country nearly two years ago.
