[1]   ALS, DNA WR RG 107, Presidential Telegrams, I, 384. On March 31, Charles Whitlock and Ezra Baker and associates petitioned Lincoln for return of goods seized by military authorities, release from arrest, and trial before a civil tribunal (Private and Official Correspondence of Benjamin F. Butler, V, 589 ff.). No reply from Gordon has been found.
