[1]   ALS, IHi. Grant's telegram to Theodore S. Bowers, which carried the information for which Lincoln was thanking Grant, is quoted by Lincoln in the telegram to Stanton, 8:30 P.M., infra. As printed in OR, I, XLVI, III, 449, Grant's telegram to Bowers has an additional sentence not quoted by Lincoln: ``I think the President might come out and pay us a visit to-morrow.''

Robert T. Lincoln telegraphed his father on April 3, ``I am awaiting you at Hancock Station.'' (DLC-RTL).
