[2] Stanton telegraphed on April 2 that Mrs. Lincoln ``arrived safely this morning'' (DLC-RTL). A telegram from Lincoln to the coachman Alfonso Donn, April 1, 1865, has not been found, but according to its description in a sale catalog, Lincoln told Donn ``to have the enclosed carriage sent to the arsenal wharf at 8 o'clock Sunday Morning & remain until Mrs. Lincoln's arrival'' (Stan. V. Henkels Catalog 1345, February 19, 1924, No. 153).
