 AES, owned by Arthur Hansen, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Lincoln's endorsement is written on a telegram of Andrew Johnson to W. C. Ward, September 28, 1864: ``You will show this dispatch to the President. I should have no hesitancy in releasing your brother and permitting him to return home if I had the pardoning power providing he would take the oath of allegiance willingly and in good faith & report to the Executive of the State and enter into such bonds as may be required for the faithful observance of the same.''
