Annotation

[1]   AES, owned by Emily Brown, Burbank, California. Lincoln's endorsement appears on a letter from Representative William Windom, March 15, 1865, enclosing the resignation of Abner Tibbetts as register of the land office at St. Peter, Minnesota, and requesting that Charles T. Brown be appointed to the office. James Harlan endorsed in concurrence, but Henry A. Swift received the appointment as listed in the U.S. Official Register, 1865.
