``There is no man named James Hallian [sic] under sentence in this Department.
``Private Jas Hallion Co `K' 20th N.Y. Cavy was sentenced by Gen Court martial to be shot for rape & other offenses. Genl Butler has commuted this sentence to dishonorable discharge . . . & to three (3) years . . . at Hard Labor with ball & chain. The sentence will be published in a few days.
