Lesters property was confiscated to the use of the U.S. & is in the hands of the Pro Mar at Fortress Monroe. The record of Confiscation will be found in General Orders No. 50 published May 8th 1864 I will send for a copy & forward it as early as possible We did not confiscate 300,000 worth of cotton which Lester had at Wilmington & 60,000 in Gold which he had in Canada.
