Give me a brief report in case of Charles Love, 7th New Hampshire, tried for desertion, & transmit record for my examination.
 D, DNA WR RG 107, Presidential Telegrams, I, 309. This telegram, including Lincoln's signature, is in John Hay's handwriting. The roster of Company I, Seventh New Hampshire Volunteers, lists Charles Love as deserted April 28, 1864, returned to service April 4, 1865, and mustered out July 20, 1865. No reply from General Ord has been found, but see Lincoln to Grant, February 16, infra.
