[1]   ES and AES, DNA WR RG 153, Judge Advocate General, NN 2361. Lincoln's endorsements appear on the court-martial record of Charles Brady, Twentieth Massachusetts Volunteers, sentenced for absence without leave, to three years' imprisonment at hard labor and to have branded on his left hip the letter ``D'' three inches high.
