Choate, chairman, wrote Lincoln: ``On behalf of The New England Society in the City of New York, I have the honor to invite you to be present, as the guest of the Society, at its Annual Festival in commemoration of the Landing of the Pilgrims, to be held at the Astor House on Thursday the 22nd day of December next at 6 oclock P.M. . . .''(DLC-RTL).
