I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of the Resolution of the Senate dated the 7th of June, requesting me to return to the Senate the Resolution advising and consenting to the appointment of John H Goddard to be Justice of the Peace in and for the county of Washington and District of Columbia; and to state that on the 19th of May last the Resolution mentioned was sent to the Department of State, and a commission in accordance therewith was issued to Mr. Goddard on the same day, the appointment being thus perfected, and the Resolution becoming a part of the permanent records of the Department of State.
