Farley, corresponding secretary of the Fair, wrote Lincoln on March 7, 1864, ``A few of your fellow-citizens have the honor of offering. . . a silk `Bed-Spread,' formed of the National Colors, and emblazoned with the Stars and Stripes and the National Eagle.''
