[1] AE, DLC-RTL. Lincoln's endorsement is written on an envelope containing a letter from Mrs. Lucretia Pope Yeatman, March 10, 1864: ``I take liberty of reminding you that in October last you promised to appoint early in March Beverly Allen of St. Louis Missouri to a cadetship at West Point. Lest in the multiplicity of cares it may have passed out of your mind I venture to call your attention to it.'' No appointment of Beverly Allen is of record.
