Boyer, Company C, Second Kentucky Cavalry, CSA, sentenced to be hanged as a spy. Letters from James Speed, January 12, and Brutus J. Clay, January 14, 1864, requested Lincoln's favorable consideration of the case (DLC-RTL). AGO Special Orders No. 45, January 29, 1864, directed Boyer's discharge from custody.
