``C. P. Johnson, Esq. Jefferson City Mo.
``Dont let the convention bill be pressed to a vote for some days after it comes up. I will write you at length. B. GRATZ BROWN''
Charles P. Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, was a member of the state legislature. The first ballot on the bill calling for an election to be held in November, 1864, for election of delegates to a constitutional convention, was taken in the Missouri legislature on January 14, 1864, and the act was finally approved on February 13, 1864.
