AGO Special Orders No. 304, September 14, 1864, ordered: ``The sentence of Sergeant Edward Conley, Company `B,' 19th Regiment Veteran Reserve Corps, `To be shot to death with musketry,' as promulgated in General Court Martial Orders, No. 266, of August 30th, 1864, from this Office, is, by direction of the President . . . commuted to imprisonment in the Clinton Prison, New York, at hard labor, during the war.''
