[1] AES, DNA WR RG 153, Judge Advocate General, NN 2260. Lincoln's endorsement is written on the court-martial record of Private John J. Skinner, Third Pennsylvania Cavalry, sentenced for desertion to three years' imprisonment at hard labor. On January 23, 1865, Lincoln endorsed the report ``Pardon on condition of re-enlisting and faithfully serving his time.''
