[1]   Milton Kronovet Catalog 54. According to the catalog description Lincoln's endorsement is written on a letter from Senator John C. Ten Eyck recommending appointment of Lieutenant G. W. Patterson in the quartermaster's department. First Lieutenant George W. Patterson, Company G, Fourteenth New Jersey Volunteers, resigned on March 1, 1864, for disability. No record of his further service has been found.
