[1] Copy, DLC-RTL. Lincoln's endorsement was written on papers asking for promotion of Lieutenant Robert Riell, copies of which were enclosed by Riell in a letter to Lincoln dated April 5, 1864. Lieutenant Riell is listed as retired September 29, 1864.
