[1]   AES, DNA WR RG 153, Judge Advocate General, LL 717. Lincoln's endorsement is written on the papers in the case of J. H. Townsend, arrested for treason and sentenced to $1,000 fine and imprisonment for one year at hard labor. On April 27, 1864, Lincoln endorsed again:

``Application denied A. LINCOLN.''
