I regret that I can not be present to witness the presentation of a Sword by the gallant Pennsylvania Reserve Corps, to one so worthy to receive it as Gen. Meade. A. LINCOLN.

[1] ALS, RPB. Brigadier General Samuel W. Crawford wrote Lincoln on August 20: ``The honor of your company is requested at the presentation of a sword to Major General Meade, by the Officers of the Penna. Res. Corps, at the Head Quarters near Rappahannock Station, on Friday, the 28th inst; at 5 o'clock.'' (DLC-RTL).
